New fellows
Nicole Carlson PhD MSN and Desireé Clement DNP APRN CNM FNP-BC were elected fellows of the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM). Carlson is an assistant professor at the School of Nursing, where her research focuses on labor dysfunction and strategies for achieving better outcomes in obese women. She serves as president of the Georgia Affiliate of the ACNM and as a member of its Virtual Quality Institute, which focuses on quality assurance and improvement in care for women in the weeks before and after giving birth.
Clement is a clinical assistant professor and coordinator of the Dual Specialty Family Nurse Practitioner-Midwifery program. Her research addresses transformational leadership, health policy, nurse unity, and interprofessional education. She has held a variety of leadership roles with the ACNM and co-directs the Georgia Coalition of Advanced Practice Registered Nurses.
